About the project

Project objectives

  • The overall objective of the project is promoting and making available in several languages the existing means and methods of computer aided teaching and its practical results obtained so far.

  • A specific objective is to introduce computer - aided methods and courses to high school teachers, professionals and students (undergraduate, graduate, PhD) in natural sciences. In particular, the objective is a further development of courses connected with modeling and simulation, by using the results of the mirror projects.

  • This will be achieved by creating and further developing computer aided applied mathematical research and didactic methods, and prepare curricula (in electronic or printed versions), with the emphasis on practical applications (natural sciences, physics, chemistry, engineering), education and further education of lecturers.

  • On the basis of introduced programs, we plan to organize intensive courses and embed them into undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs of the involved partner institutions. Exchange of students and lecturers will be available as well.

Justification of the project

  • The proposed mirror project, together with the corresponding partner’s project from the University of Szeged, should enable a much closer, better organized and intensive collaboration.

  • The aim of the project is to create and further develop computer aided scientific research and didactic methods, and prepare curricula (in electronic or printed versions), with the emphasis on practical applications of mathematics in natural sciences.

  • On the basis of introduced programs, we plan to organize intensive courses and embed them into undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs of the involved partner institutions. Exchange of students and lecturers will be available as well.

  • The intensive courses will be organized by the partners (Faculty of Science, Novi Sad, and the University of Szeged). The exchange of listeners and teachers will enable a closer cooperation between the partner institutions.

  • As an important aspect of this impact is the contribution to the multiethnic environment and further development of the collaboration between the two universities.

Extension of the project

  • The project can be extended in regional sense and in terms of topics.

  • Joint research and course development will be continued, the cooperation will be extended to other fields of natural sciences and applications.

  • The curriculum and published textbooks may be used by other faculties of the partner institutions located within or outside the region, and the colleagues from these institutions are welcome to take part in our seminars and workshops.

  • This project promotes the widespread application of computer modeling in the educational and research institutions of the region. It helps to keep the output quality of our institutions high and contributes to their international recognition.

  • The work aimed at bringing development to the region will be done in accordance and cooperation with other national and cross border universities, thus our joint effort might expect international recognition.

Location of project impact

  • The project promotes local schools on computer modeling, strengthening their role as a regional center, enabling its effects both in the region of realization, but also outside it. Other institutions are planned to be engaged regularly by the project, and colleagues from them are welcome.

  • The results might be well utilized by other institutions, and their participants are welcome for intensive courses. Thus the impact of the project will be felt evenly in both countries.

  • The impact of the project and its mirror project in Hungary, and also in other countries, is strengthened by the fact that the senior participants are internationally recognized scientists. Finally, it is important for the impact that the teaching material will be produced also in English, and put on the Web site of the project.

Compliance with the programme’s horizontal objectives

  • The compliance of the project in respect of parallel activities is indirect. Mathematics presents fundamental subject in education, a tool for practicing  professionals (e.g., physicists, chemists, medical researchers).

  • The project equally influences all social groups since each student gains better market sensitive knowledge. By means of multilingual courses the cooperation supports the education of  talented students not having enough financial resources or having some problems with the language. They are expected to get advantage in  obtaining scholarship in the multiethnic, multilingual environment.
